The court found a resident of Kherson region guilty of collaboration and sentenced her to 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.
This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.
According to prosecutors, in April 2022, the convicted woman voluntarily took the position of the so-called "starosta" of the village of Burgunka and began to cooperate with the occupation authorities.
While in her pseudo-position, she carried out the instructions of the invaders, helped to establish their control and performed organizational and administrative functions in the illegal authority.
In court, the witnesses noted that the woman was publicly introduced as a "starosta" during the May 9 events, which she personally organized. According to them, she threatened local residents with being forced to attend the celebrations if they refused.
It was also established that the convict was involved in the distribution of Russian rubles and agitated residents to work in the occupation administration. According to the testimony, her husband collaborated with the Russian military.
In addition to imprisonment, the court banned her from holding positions in government, local government and public service institutions for 15 years.
Earlier, Intent wrote that the former "director" of the Askania-Nova reserve was sentenced to 15 years for the export of rare animals. In Ukraine, this is the first sentence for a war crime against a nature reserve during a full-scale war.
As a reminder, Volodymyr Saldo, who has already been convicted of high treason, was served with a new suspicion. Along with him, 11 other people associated with the activities of the illegal armed group in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region were also suspected.
In addition, on March 20, 2026, the Office of the Prosecutor General sent an indictment to court against Volodymyr Saldo, one of the key collaborators in the temporarily occupied part of Kherson region.
