The Security Service of Ukraine announced a successful strike on the “Saki” military airfield in the temporarily occupied Crimea. According to preliminary reports, drones struck hangars housing Russian Su-30 and Su-30SM fighter jets.
This was reported by the SBU.
The security service noted that the strike was carried out as part of a 40-day operation aimed at putting pressure on Russia, which is being conducted on the orders of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The main target of the attack was the infrastructure of the “Saki” military airfield, specifically the hangars where combat aircraft were stored.
According to the SBU, five drone strikes on hangars containing military equipment have been confirmed.
It has been preliminarily established that Su-30 and Su-30SM fighter jets were present in two of the hangars at the time of the strike. Following the attack, a fire broke out in the hangar where the Su-30SM was located, which, according to the security service, indicates that the target was successfully hit.
The SBU noted that the estimated cost of a single such aircraft ranges from 30 to 50 million U.S. dollars, depending on its configuration.
“The SBU is systematically destroying the military capabilities of the Russian occupiers both on the front lines and in the enemy’s rear. No hangars or storage facilities will help—the SBU will reach the enemy everywhere,” the security service emphasized.
Recently, in the temporarily occupied Crimea, the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck an RBSN-4N short-range navigation radio system atthe “Saki” military airfield in Novofedorivka. The day before, local Telegram channels reported explosions in the area of the airfield.
Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine conducted a large-scale nighttime special operation in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea. Strikes were carried out against the Russian Black Sea Fleet’s naval base in Sevastopol, as well as against the Belbek military airfield.
