The Kyiv District Court of Odesa sentenced the driver to a fine of UAH 34,000 for attempting to bribe patrol policemen with one hundred US dollars.

As stated in the court' s verdict, the incident occurred on November 18, 2023, in the evening.

The patrol policemen stopped the convict and, while checking his documents, detected signs of alcohol intoxication - impaired movement and speech. So the police offered the driver to undergo a test for alcohol intoxication, but he refused, and the police began to draw up a report.

Then the driver offered them 100 US dollars as a bribe - at that time it was equal to 3,625 hryvnias. The policemen refused, and then the driver personally put the money in a built-in storage box in the car, which is located in front of the automatic transmission in the Toyota Prius.

The patrol policemen responded by calling their police colleagues, and the man was detained for attempting to bribe. During the court hearing, the accused pleaded guilty to the offense and repented. Therefore, although the court imposed a fine of one thousand tax-free minimums, it did not impose a sentence of imprisonment or restriction of liberty, which is provided for by law.

Earlier, the High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine found a judge of the Kyiv District Court of Odesa guilty of taking a bribe. She was sentenced to 6 years' imprisonment with disqualification to hold public office for 3 years.

The court also partially confiscated her privately owned property: a residential building with a total area of 451.4 square meters in Odesa region and an AUDI Q8 car. The term of imprisonment will be calculated from the moment of actual detention.
