Anatoliy Kobzar, who was abducted by the occupiers in March 2024, was in complete isolation (incommunicado) for more than a year and a half. Only in October 2025 did it become known that he was in custody in Sevastopol. During this time, the man lost about 40 kg of weight and went through regular torture.

Eskender Bariiev, the head of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, reported this on Facebook.

The occupation authorities have been illegally detaining the man for almost two years. During the January interrogations in 2026, Anatoliy sustained a serious injury - a fracture of the left arm with a displacement of the hand. Given the nature of the injury, the patient needed bone repositioning or surgery, but proper care was not provided in the conditions of detention. The only treatment was a plaster cast, which was removed with a significant delay: February 9 instead of the planned January 29.

Such actions are regarded as a method of extracting testimony: through physical pain and failure to provide treatment, they are trying to break the prisoner's morale and force him to sign protocols. Anatoliy Kobzar is accused of treason under the Criminal Code. He faces up to 20 years in prison. According to the investigation, he allegedly photographed the locations of air defense facilities in Sevastopol and passed the data to Ukrainian intelligence. The case is called fabricated, and the testimony is called coerced.

Anatoliy was abducted on March 5, 2024. For 17 months, his whereabouts were concealed in special units and pre-trial detention centers in Crimea in the status of 'incommunicado'. All this time, the man had no contact with his family. Only in October 2025, thanks to the efforts of the Crimean Tatar Resource Center, it became clear that the occupation court of Sevastopol had officially taken him into custody.

During his captivity under constant psychological pressure and torture , Anatoliy Kobzar lost about 40 kg of weight. Despite his critical condition, he refuses to incriminate himself or sign documents in the case, which human rights activists consider to be completely falsified.
