Frontline communities will be provided with backup sources of heat and electricity. The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to allocate UAH 2.56 billion from the state budget reserve fund to purchase mobile generation systems. In particular, Odesa region will receive the equipment.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine.

The purchase of powerful generators will be primarily transferred to housing and communal services in communities that are subject to constant shelling. The equipment is to be distributed among Dnipropetrovska, Chernihivska, Donetska, Sumska, Zaporizka, Kharkivska and Odeska oblasts. The generators will also be provided to communities with a critical shortage of backup power, including Kyiv.

The Recovery Agency has already held market consultations, evaluated existing offers and collected commercial bids from suppliers. Purchases are planned to be made directly from manufacturers, including equipment that is already available in warehouses in Europe. The delivery is expected to take several weeks.

Oleksiy Kuleba, Vice Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine and Minister of Communities and Territories Development, noted that Russia continues targeted attacks on energy infrastructure, trying to leave Ukrainians without electricity and heat in the face of a difficult winter. According to him, the government is betting not only on recovery from the attacks, but also on strengthening communities with decentralized and alternative energy sources.

The state-owned enterprise "Restoration of Critical Infrastructure", which is subordinated to the Recovery Agency, has been appointed as the customer for the mobile equipment for generating heat and electricity.

Also in Davos, during the World Economic Forum, the German energy company Notus Energy and the American-Ukrainian investment company Horizon Capital signed an agreement to finance a joint project to build a wind farm in Odesa region.
