Residents of the house No. 75 on Novoselskogo Street in the center of Odesa said that during the renovation of the house, they began to dismantle a 100-year-old fresco.

Intent asked the Odesa municipality for a comment and received a response that employees of the Department of International Cooperation, Culture and Marketing from the Office of the person responsible for the protection of cultural heritage were scheduled to visit the scene.

The mayor's office also noted that the building was not maintained by the housing and communal services, but by the Renaissance management company, and that its employees were currently making repairs to the building.

House No. 75 on Novoselsky Street in Odesa is an architectural monument known as the Blizensky House. The building was built in 1912 by architect Vikentiy Prokhaska, who later lived in the house. He is the author and co-author of 30 residential buildings in the center of Odesa.

In December 2025, a team of volunteers was created in Odesa to respond to damage to cultural sites after shelling. The newly created group has undergone specialized training that allows them to work together with museums, libraries, and other city institutions during crisis situations.

Earlier, UNESCO added 19 Ukrainian sites to the International List of Cultural Heritage in Need of Special Protection. The list includes six sites from the Odesa region, including the Akkerman Fortress in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, the Kirkha building (St. Paul's Church), the Seaside Stairs, the Odesa Museum of Western and Eastern Art, the Odesa National Art Museum, and the Odesa National Scientific Library.

In early October, the government approved a draft law on the ratification of a grant agreement with Italy aimed at restoring Odesa' s cultural heritage. The program provides for the restoration of museums, the Philharmonic, and other historical monuments in the central part of the city.
