At the Vypasnyansky Lyceum in the Bilhorod-Dnistrovsky District, an underground space covering nearly 800 square meters has been set up. The shelter includes classrooms, a medical station, dining areas, shower facilities, and amenities for people with disabilities.
This was announced by Oleksandr Lonchak, head of the Department of Education and Science of the Odesa Regional State Administration.
According to him, it is a fully-fledged underground school designed to accommodate 300 students.
The opening of the facility has allowed children to return to their desks. Prior to this, according to Lonchak, students were attending classes at another school.

Construction was funded through state and local civil defense programs. According to the Prozorro platform, the contract value for the construction of this protective facility exceeded 41 million hryvnias.
Previously, an underground school with radiation-protective shelter was opened in the village of Molodizhne in the Odesa region. The school will be able to accommodate up to 800 children. The bomb shelter is equipped with classrooms, a resource room, an elevator, restrooms, gyms, and a museum.
According to the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Odesa region is one of the leaders in terms of funding allocated for underground construction. In total, state subsidies and international funding programs have allocated funds for 11–12 new protective structures and underground schools in the region.
