In Odesa, the Security Service of Ukraine exposed an official from one of the district election commissions and the Joint Election Commission. Criminal proceedings have been opened under the article on abuse of influence, and law enforcement officials are currently conducting investigative actions and determining the appropriate preventive measure.
This was reported by the Odesa Regional Territorial Recruitment Center and Joint Staff.
According to the agency, SBU officers, with the assistance of the leadership of the regional Territorial Recruitment Center, uncovered the illegal activities of an official at one of Odesa’s district Territorial Recruitment Centers.
The criminal case is being investigated under Part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—abuse of influence.
The regional TCC did not disclose details of the alleged scheme. At the same time, the statement specifically emphasized that decisions regarding the military registration status of citizens, as well as the entry or modification of their data, are made only in accordance with the procedure established by law and are recorded in the Unified State Register of Conscripts, Persons Subject to Military Service, and Reservists.
The TCC also noted that no official may make such decisions unilaterally, and that any private “agreements” are unlawful and can be traced in electronic systems.
Thus, based on the TCC’s statement, it can be assumed that the case may be related to influencing decisions regarding military registration or changes to relevant data; however, no specific details regarding the offense have been officially reported at this time.
The investigation is ongoing. The issue of imposing a preventive measure on the official is also being decided. The Odesa Regional Military Registration and Enlistment Office stated that it is providing law enforcement with full cooperation in the investigation.
