A record number of violations of language legislation were recorded in the Teplitska Village Council in the Bolhrad District of the Odesa Region. Based on the monitoring results, 11 reports were filed against the village head, three officials, and seven council members.
This was reported by Anna Nerush, a representative of the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language .
She stated that nearly all of the individuals in question admitted their guilt and actively cooperated with the authorities.
The Teplitsa Village Council provides administrative, land, and social services to residents of five villages: Teplitsa, Veselyi Kut, Myrnopillia, Novyi Paris, and Sadove.
The Law of Ukraine “On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language” requires all local self-government bodies and state authorities to conduct their work exclusively in the Ukrainian language. All official meetings, sessions, record-keeping, administrative acts, and responses to citizens’ inquiries must be conducted solely in the state language. The official websites and social media pages of these institutions must also have a primary Ukrainian-language version that loads by default.
As reported by Intent, Anna Nerush, a representative of the Language Ombudsman, previously issued six reports regarding the use of Russian during a meeting of the Budzhak Town Council in the Odesa region. The violations were committed by the community head, two officials, and three council members.
