On October 25, a themed gathering for dog owners called BULLDOGPARTY HALLOWEEN 2026 took place at Taras Shevchenko Park in Odesa. French bulldogs, dogs of other breeds, and their owners attended the party.
During the event, an Intent photojournalist captured the atmosphere of the gathering and the costumes of the furry participants.
The gathering took place in a Halloween spirit: participants could dress their pets in costumes as witches, vampires, ghosts, and skeletons, or come up with their own creative looks. The organizers invited everyone to spend an autumn day in the company of their four-legged friends, socialize, and take some great photos.
Halloween is a popular holiday celebrated on the night of October 31 through November 1. The name comes from the English term “All Hallows’ Eve”—the evening before All Saints’ Day.
History and Origins
The origins of Halloween are linked to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, which symbolized the end of the harvest and the end of summer. The Celts believed that on this night, the boundary between the world of the living and the dead became thinner.
In the 8th century, November 1 became All Saints’ Day in the Western Christian tradition. Over time, the evening before the holiday came to combine Christian and ancient folk customs.
In the 19th century, Irish and Scottish immigrants spread the tradition to the United States and Canada. There, the holiday took on its modern form, complete with costumes, pumpkins, and themed parties, and later became popular in other countries as well.
