Svitlana Kirilova, Founder of Odesa Veterans Movement, Passes Away

Svitlana Kirilova, the founder of the public organization "Hearts of Mothers of Odesa Region," died on February 14 at the age of 64.

This was announced by Mayor Gennady Trukhanov.

"Together with Ms. Svitlana, we have gone through a long period of development of the veterans' movement in Odesa region. Long before the full-scale invasion, Ms. Svitlana united mothers who lost their children - ATO/JFO soldiers. Together we developed veterans' policies and solved social issues of mothers of fallen defenders," commented the Veterans HUB ODESA.

The funeral and burial ceremonies for Svitlana Kyrylova will take place on February 16 at 12:00 in the Holy Trinity Church of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine in Serednofontansky Park. On the same day, at 14:30, a funeral service will be held near the crematorium at Tairovsky Cemetery.

Earlier, the vice-president of the World Club of Odessans and one of the co-founders of the Odesa "Humorina" Valeriy Hait died on February 1.

On January 29, Tatiana Belova, a person who dedicated her life to supporting national cultures and developing interethnic cooperation in the Odesa region, passed away.

On January 25, People's Artist of Ukraine Vasyl Chornoshkur passed away.

Also, a well-known art critic and teacher Iryna Timokhova died at the age of 78. She devoted more than 40 years to working at the Odesa Art Museum, where she became not only an indispensable employee but also a source of inspiration for many generations.

On January 9, a day of mourning was declared in the Liubashiv community in Odesa region. Serhiy Burdov, the head of the village of Pokrovsk, who served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, died of a heart attack in a military unit. The soldier was 33 years old.

Vice President and executive secretary of the Odesa Regional Chess Federation and arbiter of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) Serhiy Holubev died on January 5 at the age of 73.
