An offsite working meeting was held at the Reni - Giurgiulesti border crossing point for road traffic to discuss further actions towards the implementation of measures to reconstruct the checkpoint and arrange a parking lot near the checkpoint.
This was reported by the Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service in Odesa Oblast.
The meeting was attended by Oleksandr Kabachynskyi, Deputy Head of International Cooperation and Border Infrastructure Development of the Restoration Service in Odesa Oblast , Alan Baron, representative of the European Union Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE), representatives of the EUBAM - EU Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine and representatives of the State Border Guard and Customs Services of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova.
Each of the participants of the meeting received information about the further action plan for the reconstruction of the checkpoint and the construction of a site near it.
This is not the first reconstruction of the checkpoint in Reni. In 2024, the work doubled the throughput capacity. At that time, separate lanes were provided for trucks and buses at the checkpoint, which will reduce the time for passengers to cross the border.
During the reconstruction, three floors and the facade of the administrative building were renovated, and sanitary facilities at the checkpoint were updated.
In addition, the road surface was replaced, and road signs and information boards were updated and installed. The repairs were carried out by the Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service in Odesa Oblast.
As a reminder, after the law on mobilization comes into force, certain categories of citizens will be checked at checkpoints for military registration documents.
