A large modern rehabilitation center is to be built in Odesa on the basis of City Hospital No. 5
According to the Odesa City Council, it will be a unique platform that will combine medical and non-medical rehabilitation, including long-term care.
The mayor's office explained that rehabilitation departments are currently operating in Odesa's municipal medical facilities, but they are mostly limited to outpatient or short-term inpatient stays. Non-medical rehabilitation, including elements of adaptive sports, is also actively developing.

However, due to the growing number of people in need of rehabilitation, including military personnel returning to civilian life after being injured, there was a need to create a multifunctional center.
The main idea of the new project is to combine all the effective methods proven in Ukraine and abroad under one roof, as well as to ensure the work of multidisciplinary teams to support patients.

The city council reported that the building of Hospital No. 5 already meets the key requirements for creating a modern rehabilitation center. The terms of reference for the development of project documentation for the overhaul of the building are currently being prepared.
The new center will have a spacious green area located near the sea and along the Health Route. It is planned that the services of the facility will be available not only to Odesa residents and residents of the region, but also to residents of the entire southern region of Ukraine.
Odesa will also host a Superhumans Center, which will provide free prosthetics, rehabilitation and psychological assistance to veterans and civilians in southern Ukraine. The center is scheduled to open in early 2025. Funding for the Odesa Superhumans is provided by Expertise France.
In addition, the Lastochka children's tuberculosis sanatorium in Odesa is to be transformed into a rehabilitation center. The buildings are located in the coastal zone at Kovalevsky's Dacha.
And in Ochakiv, Mykolaiv region, a rehabilitation center for war veterans and disabled people is planned to be built. The budget is estimated at UAH 190 million.
