Representatives of Mykolaiv City Council took part in a study visit to Poland, where they learned about the experience of Polish local government. The visit was an important step in the development of international cooperation and the implementation of European governance standards in Ukrainian cities.
This was reported by the press service of Mykolaiv City Council.
On February 12-13, a study visit of representatives of seven Ukrainian cities took place in the Polish city of Lublin as part of the Together to Europe project. The event was attended by delegations from Kharkiv, Khmelnytskyi, Lutsk, Vinnytsia, Mykolaiv, Kamianets-Podilskyi, and Ivano-Frankivsk.
Prior to the event, the participants took online courses that provided them with theoretical knowledge about European local government, strategic management, and urban planning.
The visit to Lublin allowed Ukrainian officials to familiarize themselves with the practical experience of the Polish administration. Mykolaiv was represented at the event by Andriy Volokov, manager of the executive committee, and Yevhen Polyakov, director of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning.
The program included lectures by Andrzej Wojewudzki, Secretary of the Lublin City Council, and other department directors, discussing local government, international cooperation, youth policy, environmental protection, and other important topics. The participants also visited the integration spaces Baobab and Hey, as well as the new urban space Urban Lab.
The visit was a continuation of the training "Practical Application of EU Law in the Activities of Local Governments", organized by the European Center UMKS in partnership with the Lublin City Administration, within the framework of the "Together for Europe" program funded by the European Union.
The Mykolaiv delegation also recently participated in the National Forum on Strategic Planning for Regional Development, where key areas of recovery and future growth of territorial communities were discussed.
In December 2024, the Mykolaiv Expert Public Council joined the creation of innovative community projects and introduced the concept of the blue economy. Experts were actively working on the development of key projects such as the city development strategy, the concept of an industrial park, the revitalization of a shipyard, and other initiatives.
