A modern shelter for children in a kindergarten in Mykolaiv has been built. The shelter is designed for 500 children and has two areas for recreation and games.

This was reported by the press service of the Mykolaiv City Council.

Another kindergarten in the Korabelny district received a new shelter. The preschool has already started enrolling children and plans to open its doors in the spring.

The facility has undergone major repairs: communications, ventilation systems and fire safety have been updated. There is a medical corner, sanitary rooms and a supply of drinking water. The shelter has an area of 440 square meters and is designed for 500 children.

The simplest shelter consists of two parts: a 290-square-meter playroom and a 150-square-meter dayroom. In addition, the shelter was equipped with an additional exit.

Each age group has its own separate place in the shelter, a supply of water, disposable tableware, and personal hygiene items."The room is filled with toys, visual aids, educational materials and necessary stationery," said Olena, the head of the facility.

"Each shelter area is equipped with separate sanitary rooms with hot water. The space is equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable and safe stay of children: furniture, toys, children's books. There is everything necessary for children to survive anxiety safely.

The shelter was made possible thanks to the efforts of Zakhyst and the support of the International Organization for Migration, funded by the Kingdom of Denmark.

To date, 31 shelters have been repaired in the city's kindergartens, and work is underway in 8 more.

At the end of January, the repair of a protective structure in one of the schools in Ingul district was completed. The shelter is equipped with a medical room, a supply of drinking water, new furniture, board games for children and sanitary facilities. The school has 392 students, and the shelter can accommodate up to 500 people, allowing classes to be held in one shift even during air raid alerts.

In addition, a kindergarten with a modern shelter has reopened in Bashtanka and is ready to accommodate 142 children. This kindergarten is the only one in the city that is currently functioning, and it also accepts children from other institutions that do not yet have safe shelters.

Recently, Mykolaiv decided to set up a commission to check the possibility of installing shelters in out-of-school institutions in the city. The purpose of the inspection is to determine whether these facilities meet the requirements for use as shelters.
