The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has completed an investigation into the case of a Kherson resident who worked for the invaders during the Russian occupation of the city and tried to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine after his release.

According to the SBI press service, investigators found that in June 2022, the man voluntarily took a job in a colony captured by the Russians. He was promoted to the position of dog handler and worked there until Kherson was liberated by the Ukrainian military. For this, the traitor received a salary in Russian rubles.

After the de-occupation, he decided not to flee but to stay in the city and hide. Later he tried to join the Armed Forces, but in January 2025 he was exposed and detained.

The court has now imposed a pre-trial restraint on him - detention without bail. The man is accused of collaboration (Part 7 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). If found guilty, he faces up to 15 years in prison.

The case has been referred to the court, and the Kherson Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Southern Region is providing procedural guidance.

Recently, law enforcement officers exposed a resident of Volyn who was involved in pro-Russian agitation in Kherson.

Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine exposed and served suspicion notices to three residents of Kherson region who cooperated with the occupiers and took administrative positions in illegal authorities.

In addition, law enforcement officers served suspicion notices to two residents of Kherson who worked for the enemy in the "police department" during the occupation of the city. These are a 37-year-old woman and a 48-year-old man. They are suspected of voluntarily taking up positions in the illegally created "Suvorov City Police" that operated under the control of the invaders.

The court also sentenced a former police major from Kherson region who voluntarily defected to the occupiers. He was found guilty of committing serious criminal offenses, including treason and collaboration. The accused is a native of Illinka village, Kakhovka district, Kherson region, a resident of Fedorivka village, Dariivka community.
