Jamala recognized at the state level for promoting Crimean Tatar culture

The President of Ukraine has awarded the Crimean Tatar singer Jamala. The award was in recognition of her contribution to the promotion of Crimean Tatar culture and active support of Ukraine in the international arena.
This was reported by the press service of the Mission of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded Ukrainian singer of Crimean Tatar origin Jamala with the Order of Princess Olga of the III degree during the Independence Day celebrations. This state award is given to women for outstanding achievements in various spheres of public life.

This year,Jamala became a member of the American Recording Academy, which will present the Grammy Award. Among her most famous achievements are the victory at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song "1944" dedicated to the deportation of Crimean Tatars, the title of People's Artist of Ukraine and the Taras Shevchenko National Prize for the album "Qirim".
After winning the Eurovision Song Contest, the singer has been actively promoting Ukrainian interests at international venues and popularizing the culture of the Crimean Tatars, in particular through large-scale charity events.
The representative office noted that the recognition of artists from Crimea at the state level is an important signal for Ukrainian society, wished her new creative achievements and expressed hope for the soonest liberation of her native peninsula.

In December last year, the video of Ukrainian singer of Crimean Tatar origin Jamala for the ancient mystical song Arafat Dağindan from the album Qirim won the "Video of the Year" nomination at the Megogo Music Awards. ARAFAT DAĞINDAN hails from the city of Akmesdzhit (Simferopol), and the six-minute video is filled with references to the history of the Crimean Tatar people and the singer's personal life. The video premiered in September.
In addition, last May,the People of the Decade list was published, which included Ukrainians who played an important role in the country from 2014 to 2024. The list, compiled by 47 experts from various fields, included representatives of the South of Ukraine, including Jamala.
