A group of residents of Pivdenoukrainsk came to the scheduled plenary meeting of the local city council session. The citizens and some deputies accused Mayor Valeriy Onufrienko of failing to take the necessary measures to avoid power outages in the city.

This was reported by Yuzhka News City.

The main argument of the townspeople was that Yuzhnoukrainsk is a city of power engineers, and it is mostly inhabited by people who work at the Yuzhnoukrainsk NPP.

The townspeople believe that the plant could easily provide electricity to their town. It was enough to ask Energoatom to allow the plant to supply the city with electricity directly, without transferring it to the IPS of Ukraine. Some of the deputies even accused the mayor of being "unable to manage the city".

The mayor of the city, Valeriy Onufrienko, confirmed that he knew about possible power outages in late July. He explained that back in July he had appealed to the Ministry of Energy and "other authorities" but received no response: "You need to be patient a little bit". He claimed that he also raised the issue at a meeting with Vitaly Kim in September.

So far, no solution has been found - the discussion ended without any concrete decisions. The participants left, and the session was postponed due to the lack of a quorum.

Earlier, residents of the city of Izmail in Odesa Oblast and the surrounding towns were left without power supply.

The south of Odesa region is indeed currently suffering from a difficult situation with energy supply, as the repair of the power substation in Reni, Izmail district, Odesa region, which was damaged by the Russian attack, has been delayed for more than a week.
