Igor Uchitel passed away

At the age of 71, the heart of Igor Uchytel, a former deputy of the Odesa Regional Council and chairman of the supervisory board of Odesagaz, stopped beating. The cause of death was cancer.
According to Anna Pozdnyakova, the former head of Odesa Heat Supply, a man who left behind not just an enterprise but a whole history, has passed away.
"Just recently, we congratulated him on his 70th birthday... He was in good shape, with a twinkle in his eye, as always, with humor and confidence. And now - such silence," she wrote.
Ihor Uchytel was born and lived his entire life in Odesa. He spent most of his life working for Odesa Gas, rising from a master of the emergency dispatch service to the chairman of the Supervisory Board of OdesaGas. Honored Worker of Industry of Ukraine, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, Academician, he left behind more than 200 scientific papers and many patents, and helped to gasify many Odesa streets.
Odesa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov said that this year he presented Igor Leonidovich with the Marazli Honorary Award of the first degree.
"It was a well-deserved award for a person who devoted himself to the development of Odesa. As a holder of all three degrees of the Marazli Order, Igor Leonidovich was entitled to the title of Honorary Citizen of Odesa. We planned for him to receive this award on the City Day. After all, for the whole of Odesa, Igor Uchytel is truly an Honorary Citizen who served our city faithfully," he added.
Recently, at the age of 88, the heart of writer and local historian Anatoliy Horbatiuk stopped beating . The day before, tenor Vladyslav Horai , soloist of the Odesa National Opera and Ballet Theater, Honored Artist of Ukraine, winner of the National Chamber Music Competition in Khmelnytsky, winner of the Antonín Dvořák International Vocal Competition (Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic), died while performing his volunteer mission.
