High Council of Justice approves dismissal of judge from Mykolaiv

The High Council of Justice (HCJ) has decided to dismiss another judge in connection with his resignation.
The decision was made during today's HCJ meeting,Law and Business reports.
The High Council of Justice granted the resignation of Oleksandr Melnyk, who served as a judge of the Mykolaiv District Administrative Court. During the meeting, the HCJ found that the judge had sufficient professional experience and no open disciplinary proceedings, which allowed the decision to dismiss him.
Since the beginning of 2026, this is the 14th resignation approved by the Council. In addition, three more judges were dismissed this year for committing a significant disciplinary offense.
For comparison, in 2025, the judiciary decreased by 226 people. At that time, the main reason for dismissal was also resignation (174 judges), 12 people left voluntarily, and 40 judges lost their positions due to disciplinary offenses or the results of qualification assessment.
In particular, earlier, the disciplinary chamber of the High Council of Justice initiated the dismissal of Oksana Zvyagina, a judge of the Bashtanka District Court of Mykolaiv Oblast, for violating the norms of judicial ethics.
As stated in the materials of the disciplinary complaint, on October 2, 2025, court employees found the judge in her office in an extremely serious condition with obvious signs of alcohol intoxication. Two empty bottles of alcohol were also found in the room - 0.75 liter Asti sparkling wine and 0.35 liter Aznauri 3 cognac. These bottles were photographed by eyewitnesses.
