Mykolaiv judge speaks at international legal conference

Judge of the Central District Court of Mykolaiv , Tetiana Fortuna, spoke at an international conference dedicated to documenting and investigating war crimes committed by the Russian Federation.

Fortuna took part in a two-day international conference in Krakow, Poland, dedicated to the investigation of war crimes committed by the Russian Federation against Ukraine. The event, organized on the basis of the National School of Judges and Prosecutors of Poland, brought together representatives of the judicial community and academics.
The conference participants discussed key issues, in particular, the judicial practice of criminal proceedings, the possibility of establishing a special tribunal to bring the Russian leadership to justice, and the problem of deportation of Ukrainian children.
Tatyana Fortuna delivered a presentation on civil liability for war crimes and genocide, which aroused considerable interest and lively discussion. She was also a speaker at the discussion panel "Challenges and future of prosecuting international crimes in Ukraine".
At the conclusion of the conference, the participants expressed their hope that this platform will become the basis for further international cooperation in the investigation of crimes committed in Ukraine.
Meanwhile, 44 corruption cases were brought to court in Mykolaiv. Head of Mykolaiv Regional Prosecutor's Office Domuyev spoke about the status of criminal cases related to abuse of office. According to him, in the first half of 2025, law enforcement officers sent 22 indictments in corruption cases to court.
They also sent 20 indictments for crimes in the budget sphere, of which one case was investigated as part of an organized group. Two more criminal proceedings have also been referred to court. In addition, the prosecutor's office opened 10 cases regarding SBI investigations.
The prosecutor did not provide data for comparison with the previous year, nor did he report on specific districts of the region or details of investigations, which makes it difficult to assess the extent of abuses and the work of the prosecutor's office. According to the prosecutor, all cases were investigated by investigators of the State Bureau of Investigation's territorial office in Mykolaiv.
