The Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people Refat Chubarov said that enemy security forces detained Crimean Tatars in Crimea who came to visit their relatives after a long emigration.
"In recent days, it became known about several detentions of Crimean Tatars who, after a long absence in Crimea, decided to visit their elderly parents or sick relatives. Unfortunately, we do not know all the circumstances and the essence of the charges, as the relatives of the detainees are afraid of the FSB and avoid contact," Chubarov wrote on his Facebook page.
Returning criminals come under the FSB's scrutiny.
"However, it is obvious that any Crimean Tatar who has been absent from the peninsula for a long time becomes the object of special attention from Russian punishers," Chubarov noted.
It is already known that the occupation authorities are holding 260 Crimeans in captivity, who are being persecuted for political reasons. At the same time, 153 of them are Crimean Tatars.
Human rights activists of the CrimeaSOS organization reported that in 2024, 56 Crimeans were persecuted by the occupiers in Crimea. Russian security forces conducted 45 illegal searches on the peninsula.
Recently, we also wrote about high treason. In 2014, a captain of the Armed Forces of Ukraine refused to leave the occupied peninsula and went over to the enemy. The native of Yalta was notified of suspicion of treason and desertion.
At the time of the annexation of Crimea, Goncharov served in the military unit A2320 (Perevalne village, Simferopol district) as a logistics platoon commander. In March 2014, after the unit was seized by armed Russian forces, the Ukrainian team announced the relocation of personnel to the mainland.
According to the investigation, Goncharov ignored the order, did not report to his new duty station and deliberately remained in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
