Two basement reconstructions were planned for the Kherson City Hospital named after Karabelesh.
In 2025, the renovation projects were published on the DREAM platform. The first project worth 165.2 million hryvnias will be implemented in the basement of Polyclinic #2; this shelter will also serve visitors to the children's polyclinic. The second shelter will appear in a five-story hospital building, and its reconstruction will cost almost 106 million. The work is expected to be completed within 8-10 months, which will help protect patients and staff at the multidisciplinary facility, which has unique surgical departments for the city and region.
Karabelets Hospital is a multidisciplinary institution that provides primary and secondary medical care to residents of Kherson and the region. The hospital has 12 departments, including unique centers for vascular surgery, proctology and otolaryngology. Given that two departments of the institution serve the needs of the entire region, the safety of staff and patients is a priority. That is why the projects for the construction of new shelters have received support at the state level: the work will be financed by a subvention from the state budget.
In particular, the construction of a shelter in a kindergarten was initiated in the Kherson region. The project was estimated at over UAH 135 million.
A project to reconstruct the basement of Zelenivskyi nursery school No. 47 to equip a modern shelter has been launched in the Kherson region. The total area of the renovated space will be almost 894 square meters, which will allow for the simultaneous accommodation of 216 children and educators.
The project envisages a dual use of the premises: in peacetime it will serve as a safe educational space and in emergency situations as a shelter for the village residents. It will be equipped with a barrier-free environment accessible to people with limited mobility, modern engineering equipment, furniture and necessary equipment.
