In the Mykolaiv region, there are plans to restore forests in five forest districts. More than 4.3 million hryvnias are set to be allocated for creating new plantings, replacing trees that did not take root, and sowing acorns.

This is indicated by a tender published on the ProZorro electronic procurement system.

The contracting authority is the “Southern Forest Office” branch of the state-owned enterprise “Forests of Ukraine.” The estimated cost of the procurement is 3.6 million hryvnias excluding VAT (4.3 million including VAT).

The work is planned within the Bashtanka Forest District—specifically in the Mykolaiv, Novobuzh, Ochakiv, Pryvilnenske, and Khristoforivsk forest ranges.

According to the tender documentation, some of the young trees will be planted by hand, while the rest will be planted using specialized equipment. Specifically, the contractor must plant more than 660,000 seedlings by hand over an area of nearly 109 hectares. Another 102 hectares will be planted using mechanized methods.

The total length of the rows in which the trees will be planted will be nearly 340 kilometers. The work will be carried out on both flat areas and slopes.

Plans also call for replacing over one million trees that previously died or failed to take root. New saplings will be planted in their place.

In addition, nearly 300 hectares of land are planned to be sown with acorns. To this end, more than 784,000 planting sites will be prepared, where the acorns will be sown by hand.

The Bashtanske Forest District will supply the contractor with saplings and acorns. The contractor will be responsible for planting them. The work is scheduled to be completed by December 31, 2026.
