Russian Army Destroyed Tens of Thousands of Houses in Kherson Region: Some Have Already Been Restored

The Russian army has been targeting residential areas in Kherson region, and rescue services are eliminating the consequences of the attacks every day, having already restored tens of thousands of windows and roofs. Thanks to the state program "Restore" and international partners, billions of hryvnias of damage have been compensated and thousands of houses have been rebuilt in the region.
This was reported by the head of the regional military administration , Oleksandr Prokudin, on the air of the United News telethon.
More than 33,000 private houses and 1,500 apartment buildings have been destroyed in the right-bank part of Kherson region as a result of Russian army shelling.
According to him, the Russians are deliberately targeting residential areas, some buildings have been shelled several times - up to ten times - and the enemy continues to attack these areas.
The Kherson Regional Emergency Rescue Service works daily to deal with the consequences of the shelling. They are engaged in emergency repairs. During their work, they have covered about 95,000 windows and 85,000 square meters of destroyed roofs. Such services operate in every community, said the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration.
Prokudin also noted that since May 2023, the state program EuRestoration has been implemented in the region. During this time, almost UAH 2.8 billion in compensation has been accrued. The assistance was provided to 6,500 owners of damaged or destroyed housing.
And with the support of the "Side by Side" initiative and international partners, almost 6,000 houses damaged by enemy shelling have been restored in Kherson Oblast.
The Kherson region also signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Canadian province of Manitoba to restore the region, primarily in the areas of agriculture, economy, education, health care, sports, culture and the environment.
Last year, more than 30,000 civilian objects were damaged or completely destroyed in Kherson region as a result of Russian armed aggression. The main impact was on the residential sector - almost 95% of all destruction was caused by private houses and multi-storey buildings: 27,600 private homes and 1,200 apartment buildings were destroyed.
In addition, Kherson region is among the ten regions of Ukraine that have lost the most cultural heritage sites due to the war, with at least 150 damaged.
