Odesa allocated 358 million for reconstruction of stormwater collector

Tenders have been announced in Odesa for the reconstruction of problematic sections of the main stormwater collector for UAH 358 million. The works cover problematic areas from the Buffer Pond to Balkivska and Shchogoleva streets.
This is evidenced by the data of the public procurement system Prozorro.
The Capital Construction Department of the Odesa City Council has put up for auction the reconstruction of the section between the Buffer Pond and Shchogolev Street. The starting cost of the work is UAH 131.5 million, and it is planned to be completed by December 31, 2026. The contractor is to clean and flush the collector, sandblast, remove silt, reinforce concrete structures, repair wells, and perform internal polymer rehabilitation of the pipeline.

The second tender concerns the restoration of a part of the stormwater system from Balkivska Street, Hlukhyi Most district, through Shchogolev Street to Ataman Chepyha Street. UAH 226.2 million has been allocated for this facility, and the work is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026. The deadline for submitting bids is December 12.
A separate tender was announced for the development of project documentation for the future sewerage system on Promyslova Street with a budget of UAH 4.26 million and a deadline of April 30, 2026. The city's total investment in the modernization of the main collector is about UAH 358 million.

The areas where the stormwater system is to be repaired are regularly flooded during heavy rains. On September 30, 94 mm of rain fell in the city, causing the city to flood. Ten people died in Odesa because of the downpour. Among them was a 21-year-old girl who was swept away by the flood, as well as a family of five with a child. The floodwaters destroyed houses, damaged cars and fences. In total, about 300 private homes and approximately 400 apartment buildings were affected.
To upgrade the drainage system and protect urban areas from flooding during heavy rains, the Capital Construction Department of Odesa City Council isalso carrying out major repairs to the main stormwater collector Novoarkadiyske.
