In Mykolaiv region, billions of hryvnias were allocated to restore critical infrastructure. The implementation of these projects was aimed at improving transport links and ensuring a stable water supply in the region.

This is evidenced by data from the Izi.trade platform.

According to Intent 's analysis, the Infrastructure Restoration and Development Service in Mykolaiv region planned more than UAH 13 billion for the most expensive procurement last year.

At the beginning of 2024, one of the largest tenders was for the construction of a transport interchange at the junction of the bridge crossing over the Pivdennyi Buh River in Mykolaiv to the M-14 Odesa-Melitopol-Novoazovsk highway. The project cost was UAH 2.2 billion. An additional UAH 52.4 million was allocated for operational maintenance, and another UAH 9.7 million for technical inspection and testing.

At the same time, a tender was announced to complete the overhaul of the H-14 Oleksandrivka-Kropyvnytskyi-Mykolaiv highway for UAH 20.8 million, as well as the overhaul of the bridge on the P-81 Kazanka-Snihurivka-P-47 highway for over UAH 266 million.

UAH 1 billion 489 million was allocated for the maintenance of public roads of national importance in Mykolaiv region.

UAH 38 million was allocated for the repair of the T-15-13 Nechayane-Ochakiv highway, and almost UAH 40 million for the P-55 Odesa-Voznesensk-Novyi Buh highway. However, additional work increased costs by another UAH 412.8 million. Separately, the overhaul of the bridge on this highway was estimated at more than UAH 544 million.

The overhaul of the M-14 Odesa-Melitopol-Novoazovsk road (to Taganrog) cost over UAH 67 million. Average repairs on the Fedorivka-Rybakivka-Luhove recreation center road cost over UAH 108 million.

Separately, more than UAH 507 million was allocated to replace a small bridge with a culvert on the P-55 Odesa-Voznesensk-Novyi Buh highway, as well as more than UAH 438 million for the overhaul of another bridge on the same highway.

An important part of the infrastructure restoration was the construction of a new water intake from the Southern Bug River and a main water pipeline to supply Mykolaiv with water after the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP. Almost UAH 6 million was allocated for the services of a consulting engineer for this project, and more than UAH 7 billion for the construction itself.

In addition, the cost of repairing and maintaining company vehicles, including Toyota Camry, Mitsubishi Outlander, Volkswagen Passat, Hyundai Accent, Chevrolet Aveo, Renault Duster, and Logan, amounted to UAH 2.3 million. A similar amount was allocated for the purchase of electricity.

Large infrastructure projects to restore water supply and strengthen defense capabilities are underway in Mykolaiv Oblast. However, many of the contractors were appointed without open tenders, and among the contractors were companies that had previously been involved in criminal cases of embezzlement of public funds.

The city also continues to restore the destroyed housing after the Russian aggression, but the pace of reconstruction remains very slow. Nearly 100 apartment buildings have been severely damaged, and while some of them require only cosmetic repairs, dozens of homes need major reconstruction. At the same time, residents of the destroyed buildings have been waiting for three years to rebuild their homes, and each year it takes longer and longer.
