A village in the Kherson region is planning to build an energy complex. The project, worth more than UAH 600 million, should increase the community's energy independence, but currently needs funding.

This is evidenced by data from the DREAM digital recovery ecosystem.

A cogeneration energy complex is planned to be built in the village of Velyka Oleksandrivka, Kherson region. The project should ensure energy independence and stable heat supply for critical infrastructure and residential buildings in the community.

To this end, a 26.4-hectare plot has been reserved in the north-east of the village for the construction of local energy generation facilities. It is planned to install three cogeneration units with a total capacity of 12.9 MW, a heat and power plant that will run on biogas from the solid waste landfill, and cold storage facilities.

The project aims to restore the energy infrastructure and provide stable heat in the fall and winter. It will also allow for more efficient use of natural gas.

The project is expected to contribute to

  • modernization of the energy infrastructure after the hostilities;
  • reducing the community's dependence on centralized energy sources;
  • sustainable heat supply in winter;
  • effective response to emergencies in the energy system.

The total project budget is UAH 633.6 million. The project documentation has been approved, but funding has not yet been confirmed.

The project is part of the Unified Project Portfolio of Ukraine (UPP) and the programs of socio-economic development of Kherson region for 2025. It was initiated by the Department of Territorial Development of Kherson Regional State Administration.

Dariivka Village Council also plans to overhaul the water supply system in the village of Lymanets, Kherson district. The reconstruction will enable more than a thousand local residents and IDPs to use centralized water supply. Currently, the network is in an emergency condition due to worn-out pipes and a drop in water levels in wells after the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant explosion. The cost of the project is UAH 17 million, but funding is currently unavailable.
