EUR 4 million raised for reconstruction of water supply system in Pervomaisk

Pervomaisk received a €4 million grant to reconstruct the water supply system. The project will provide the city with a stable water supply and support the restoration of Ukraine's critical infrastructure.
This was reported by the press service of Nefco Financial Corporation.
Nefco has received a grant from Impact Fund Denmark to reconstruct the main water supply system in Pervomaisk, Mykolaiv region. The project is part of Nefco's Green Recovery Program for Ukraine, which aims to restore critical infrastructure and increase the region's resilience.
The grant agreement was signed at the ReBuild Ukraine conference in Warsaw, an international platform dedicated to restoring Ukraine's infrastructure, public services and energy systems. The initiative is funded by Denmark as part of a DKK 108 million commitment. The total budget for the reconstruction of the water supply system in Pervomaisk is about EUR 4 million, of which EUR 3.6 million is provided by a grant and EUR 0.4 million is the contribution of the city council.
The project involves the rehabilitation of 8.8 km of underground water supply from the city's water treatment plant to clean water tanks. This is a continuation of a previous EU initiative that reconstructed the water treatment plant. With the new funding, the city will be able to provide reliable access to drinking water for all residents.
The reconstruction is expected to reduce electricity consumption by 726 MWh per year, save 1.2 million cubic meters of water, and reduce CO₂ emissions by 581 tons. About 35,000 residents, including 6,650 internally displaced persons, will benefit from the improved water supply. The works will start in December 2025 and will be completed by December 2026.
Recently, Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych said that drinking water should be available in the city by February 2026. According to him, the Reconstruction Agency is building additional treatment facilities, which are expected to be completed by the end of this year, and additional water treatment will begin in January.
Also, by the end of 2025, a modern water filtration station should be launched in Mykolaiv, which will fully automate the process of water purification and quality control.
