Six communities in Mykolaiv Oblast have joined the national initiative "Side by Side: United Communities!". This project aims to unite the efforts of Ukrainian communities to support the settlements most affected by the war.
This was reported by the press service of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration.
The project includes partnerships between communities from different regions, helping to restore damaged infrastructure.
Six communities in Mykolaiv region are already cooperating with communities in Kirovohrad, Cherkasy, Lviv, and Zhytomyr regions. For example, the Holovanivska community supports the Shyrokivska community, and the Zhytomyrska community supports the Mykolaiv city community.
The project covers several areas: restoration of houses and hospitals, humanitarian aid during crises, and social initiatives to strengthen ties and engage young people.
According to Vice Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba, more than 50 memorandums of cooperation between communities have already been signed, which accelerates the recovery of the regions and helps to respond quickly to needs.
Mykolaiv has also launched a legal fight to compensate for the damage caused by Russian aggression. As part of the Legal Forces of Ukraine project, it is planned to bring Russia and its proxies to justice for the damage caused to the community. The project involves conducting examinations, assessing damages, preparing lawsuits in courts in Ukraine and abroad, and enforcing their decisions.
Recently, the communities of Mykolaiv region presented new prospects for cooperation and investment to their Danish partners. A new model of cooperation emerged at the meeting: specific communities in the region work with communities in Denmark. Three key areas of cooperation were identified: economic potential development, creation of a council of entrepreneurs, and cooperation in waste and water management.
In the upcoming year 2025, Mykolaiv City Territorial Community plans to raise significant funds to finance important infrastructure projects. These steps are aimed at increasing the efficiency of utility companies and improving infrastructure to improve the quality of life of city residents.
