The Russian administration in the occupied Crimea has announced increased security risks during mass events on May 9.
This is reported by Krym.Realii with reference to the statements of the head of the occupation administration Sergey Aksyonov.
According to the occupier, the decision on the format of the events is made taking into account "security issues", in particular because of threats to mass gatherings.
Earlier, the occupation authorities of Crimea have repeatedly restricted or canceled mass events before May 9, explaining it by "security concerns".
Separately, it is reported that some traditional propaganda events, such as the march of the "Immortal Regiment", may also be limited or canceled.
Last year, the occupied Sevastopol canceled the May 9 parade, claiming security threats after a Ukrainian maritime drone shot down a Su-30 fighter jet. Ukraine warned that it could not guarantee the safety of foreign guests at Russian events.
A year earlier, in 2024, for "security reasons," the military parade and the procession of the Immortal Regiment were canceled in a number of Russian regions, including Kursk, Bryansk, Belgorod, Ryazan, and Pskov regions, in addition to Crimea. And in 2023, May 9 parades were canceled in 23 Russian regions.
Military expert Oleksiy Hetman emphasizes that attacks on military facilities on the peninsula will continue and may even intensify. According to him, in particular, radar stations and other facilities used by the Russian army will remain under attack. Recently, the Ukrainian Defense Forces hit a radar station in occupied Crimea, as well as command posts and areas of concentration of Russian troops.
