The Office of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea held a vote and elected a candidate to the Council of Veterans for Ukraine’s Independence. Marlen Mamutovich Dzherbinov, delegated by the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, was elected as the region’s representative.
This was reported by the Office of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
Based on the results of two rounds of voting, the following individuals were elected to the Council of Veterans:Artem Kiselev (from the city of Sevastopol) and Marlen Dzherbinov (from the Autonomous Republic of Crimea).
According to Olga Kuryshko, Deputy Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Crimea had the highest number of voters among the regions after Kyiv. More than 100 people participated in the open online vote.
The organizers ensured identity verification and document checks during the voting process so that neither side would have any objections regarding the transparency of the process. Each participant had the right and opportunity to ask questions of the candidates. Observers from the Ministry of Veterans Affairs and the NGO “Chesno Movement” were present at the vote.
Earlier, it was reported thatthe European Court of Human Rights had scheduled oral hearings in the case of ten Ukrainian children whom Russia abducted following the occupation of Crimea in 2014. Human rights advocates call this an exceptional procedural development, as such hearings are scheduled outside the Grand Chamber only in rare cases.
