Ukraine will hand over to the US evidence of the shelling of the Kherson energy facility, which took place despite agreements to stop attacks. The President expects Washington to respond, as the United States has promised to respond to such violations.
This was reported by Suspilne.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy ordered Defense Minister Rustem Umerov to collect and transmit information to the United States about the shelling of a power facility in Kherson on March 27. He said this during a press conference after a meeting of European leaders in Paris dedicated to supporting Ukraine and security in Europe.
The President emphasized that despite the agreements reached in Saudi Arabia to stop strikes on energy infrastructure, Russian artillery attacked the energy facility in Kherson. According to him, Ukraine expects the US to respond, as the US side assured that it would respond to violations of the agreements.
The Defense Minister received this order from me. It will be prepared and submitted to the United States. And after that, we expect the US to respond, because they told us that they would respond to violations," Zelenskyy said.
The President also noted that Ukraine has evidence of the shelling, including video and other evidence, which will be handed over to Washington.
Ukraine does not intend to legally abandon the occupied territories and will continue to seek diplomatic ways to return them. The President noted that he is ready to negotiate the return of the territories, especially if Ukraine is guaranteed NATO membership.
Last December, the head of state said that due to a lack of resources, the Ukrainian army is not yet able to liberate the temporarily occupied Crimea, so diplomatic methods remain key. The issue can be resolved only after Ukraine reaches a level of strength that will make it impossible for Russia to launch a new aggression.
Meanwhile, the United States announced its withdrawal from the International Center for the Prosecution of Crimes against Ukraine (ICPA) and the reduction of the War Crimes Investigation Team. Prior to this, the United States was the only non-European country that cooperated with European law enforcement in bringing perpetrators of war crimes in Ukraine to justice.
