The Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office has secured a verdict for a local collaborator who voluntarily joined the occupiers.

This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The court found the woman guilty under Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The 50-year-old collaborator from Kherson region was sentenced to 10 years in prison with full confiscation of property. In addition to the prison term, the woman was banned from working in the government and any state institutions for 15 years. The punishment was the result of her deliberate collaboration with the enemy: having experience in local government, she decided to use her knowledge to build the occupation regime.

The investigation established that in August 2023, the woman voluntarily joined the ranks of Putin's United Russia party and ran in illegal elections to the so-called Kherson Regional Duma. During the 'campaign', she actively campaigned for local residents to support the occupiers, using social media. Even after receiving her 'deputy mandate', the convicted did not stop and continued to call on residents of the region to participate in illegal plebiscites.

Currently, the sentence was passed in absentia, as the collaborator is in hiding. She will start serving her real term immediately after her arrest by law enforcement. The case was investigated by the Main Investigation Department of the National Police of Ukraine.

Earlier, it became known that during the occupation of a village in Kherson region, a local resident not only served the Russian military, but also helped them with accommodation in other people's homes. She was found guilty and sentenced to a term of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

As the court found, from March to early October 2022, the village of Nova Kamianka, Beryslav district, was occupied by Russian troops. During this period, a local resident voluntarily opened a shop and systematically provided food and household services to the soldiers of the 22nd Army Corps of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, who set up their base in the village and fired from there at settlements in the Kherson region. The Russian soldiers took some of the goods for free, and the woman did not interfere with this.
