Kherson city council deputy worked in the occupation administration

A city court in Kherson found Kherson City Council deputy Ihor Semenchev guilty of aiding and abetting the Russian Federation and sentenced him to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property and a ban on holding certain positions for 15 years.
This became known from the relevant court verdict.
The accused is currently hiding in the occupied part of Kherson region, so the trial was conducted in his absence.
In April 2022, while in the occupied Kherson, Ihor Semenchev voluntarily took the position of "Deputy Head of the Military-Civilian Administration of Kherson Region for Infrastructure, Housing and Communal Services and Fuel and Energy Complex" created by the occupation authorities.
Using his illegal powers, the traitor participated in meetings of the 'Emergency Commission', voting for decisions that prolonged the activities of the illegal authorities of the invader. In particular, Semenchev made decisions to extend the terms of detention, change the preventive measures and release the right people from the pre-trial detention center.
The collaborator's guilt was proved by documents from Russian sources, and his name appeared in the minutes of the meetings of the 'Emergency Commission' under the occupiers. It is worth noting that the case file contains copies of data and decrees from the official website of the occupying city administration, which confirms that Semenchev served as deputy head.
Witnesses confirmed that in 2022 they had already received a decision of the commission with the symbols of the terrorist country with the name of Igor Semenchev on it.
MP Semenchev is the son of former Kherson politician Ihor Semenchev Sr. In 2008, he became the head of the village of Antonivka, and later a member of the Kherson City Council. It should be noted that the collaborator has already been involved in corruption scandals: he was suspected of taking a bribe of $80,000, after which he temporarily disappeared abroad. In 2020, Semenchev was again elected to the city council as a member of the Vladimir Saldo Bloc.
Ukrainian law enforcement officers notified him of suspicion of collaboration, and Ukraine, the United States, Canada, and Japan imposed sanctions against him.
