Intent.Insight: what awaits Odesa after Trukhanov's deprivation of citizenship

In recent days, Odesa and beyond has been discussing the possible deprivation of Ukrainian citizenship of Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov and his possible removal from office.
So, in a live broadcast of Intent.Insight, we discussed where the information about the mayor's alleged Russian passport came from? Why did the central government mention it now? And why is Trukhanov so active in denying it?
All these questions were discussed with Anatolii Boyko, head of the Odesa regional organization of the Committee of Voters of Ukraine, and Kateryna Madens, a journalist for the online publication Anti-Corruption Dimension.
Meanwhile, a petition to deprive the mayor of his citizenship collected the 25,000 signatures needed for the president's consideration in six hours. The author of the petition, Myroslav Otkovych, cites repeated media reports that the mayor has Russian citizenship. The mayor himself said he was ready to take a polygraph test to prove that he was not a citizen of the Russian Federation.

On the evening of October 12, Gennadiy Trukhanov published a statement that he was going to be deprived of Ukrainian citizenship on the grounds of his alleged Russian citizenship. He reminded that this topic has been systematically raised since 2014. At that time, he repeatedly denied holding Russian citizenship, and all checks by Ukrainian authorities failed to establish this fact.
Finally, Trukhanov addressed the president: "Make a legal and thorough check. I ask the President and the competent services to look closely at the documents and establish the truth."
The politician also appealed to the public not to give in to rumors and provocations and said that Ukraine now needs "peace, unity and consolidated work."
