President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his belief that Ukraine has real opportunities to end the war in 2025. He drew special attention to the need to familiarize ourselves with the initiatives of US President-elect Donald Trump, which are expected in January.
The head of state said this during the 3rd International Conference on Food Security Grain from Ukraine on Saturday, November 23, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine is ready to consider proposals for a peaceful settlement not only from the United States, but also from countries in Africa, Asia and the Arab world. He emphasized that the country is open to cooperation with partners from different regions of the world.
The Head of State noted that the strong position of the United States would facilitate support for Ukraine from the countries of the Global South, which would be an important step towards ending the war. He also emphasized that all the initiatives of Ukraine are based on the norms of the UN Charter and have the support of international partners.
"I am confident that we have every chance to do it next year (end the war - ed.). There are appropriate steps for this... We realize that Russia will not take all these steps. But there is a UN charter and all our steps based on the UN charter will be supported by our partners," the president said.
Recently, Zelenskyy spoke about cases of unauthorized abandonment of military units and desertion, which has increased during the war.
