Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation have opened a criminal investigation into the illegal crossing of the border by current MP Artem Dmytruk, who was served with a notice of suspicion of assaulting citizens.
According to the Bureau's press service, an investigative team of the State Bureau of Investigation is currently working in Odesa.
Urgent investigative actions are underway to find out how the MP crossed the border and who helped him. Civilians and employees of the State Border Guard Service, who allegedly assisted the MP in illegal border crossing, have already been searched.
The issue of serving a notice of suspicion is currently being decided. The proceedings were initiated under Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (facilitation of illegal transportation of persons across the state border).
The Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andriy Kostin served a notice of suspicion to a current member of the Ukrainian parliament on the facts of attacks by a group of people on a law enforcement officer and a military officer, attempted theft of firearms, inflicting moderate bodily harm to the victim and hooliganism.
According to media reports, which can now be considered confirmed, Artem Dmytruk has now fled the country.
Artem Dmytruk is a Member of Parliament of the IX convocation (since 2019), elected in constituency 133 (Odesa region). He is also an entrepreneur and professional athlete who ran the professional boxing federation of Odesa and the region.
In July 2024, he became a subdeacon of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP).
In November last year, Artem Dmytruk joined those who wanted to preserve the Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine. In October 2023, Artem Dmytruk was accused of beating a man in the capital.
Earlier, the police opened proceedings on the fact of violence against a public figure because of MP Artem Dmytruk's statement about the beating. The MP allegedly came to one of Odesa's business centers to check whether a criminal call center was operating there.
In November 2021, Dmytruk was expelled from the Servant of the People faction.
