Spreading Russian propaganda: editor-in-chief of the occupation media holding "TRK Krym" suspected

The editor-in-chief of the occupation media holding "TRK Krym" publicly supports the occupation authorities of the peninsula.

According to the Prosecutor's Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, in October 2019, the suspect took the position of editor-in-chief of the Krym TV and Radio Company, which is subordinated to the occupation Ministry of Internal Policy, Information and Communications of the Republic of Crimea and includes 16 pro-Russian media outlets. In order to influence the residents of the peninsula, the "media person" uses her social media account, where she distributes materials aimed at supporting the enemy and justifying the temporary occupation of part of the territory of Ukraine.

In addition, in 2022, the suspect took part in a propaganda program on the Crimea TV channel dedicated to the start of broadcasting Russian media in the temporarily occupied part of Kherson region, where she expressed support for the aggressor state and its occupation administration.

Her actions were classified by law enforcement as collaboration and justification of the temporary occupation of a part of the territory of Ukraine, committed with the use of media. The suspect faces up to 12 years in prison with deprivation of the right to engage in certain activities for up to 15 years and confiscation of property.

The prosecutor's office did not name the suspect. However, Intent found out that it could be Daria Safonova. In February 2024, the Presidium of the State Council of the radio company awarded her the honorary title of "Honored Journalist of the Republic of Crimea" for her significant personal contribution to the development of Russian journalism, active participation in covering the socio-political life of the Republic of Crimea, conscientious work and high professionalism. Also, the Crimean branch of the Russian Union of Journalists presented Safonova with a certificate of appreciation for her high professional achievements on the occasion of her 50th birthday.

Earlier, the National Police of Ukraine served a notice of suspicion of collaboration to Kherson journalist Tetyana Levandovska, who voluntarily agreed to head the illegal "Department of Mass Media and Public Relations" in the occupation "administration" of Kherson region. Prior to the occupation, Levandovska worked as a presenter at the regional TV channel "Scythia", had her own television projects and was engaged in PR for Volodymyr Saldo and Vitaliy Buliuk.
