At the so-called Sevastopol State University (SevSU), 64 employees of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant seized by the Russian occupiers are undergoing "retraining".

According to Holos Kryma, the occupation propaganda claims that this is the first such "training program" implemented within the framework of "cooperation" since the beginning of the year.

"According to Ivan Konovalov, "the head of the laboratory of the radiation safety department of the Zaporizhzhia NPP Operating Organization JSC, the training was not mandatory, but suggested, and he was one of those who responded to such a proposal," the media outlet quotes the propagandists.

It is also noted that the "training" takes place in a mixed format. The "program" is designed for 650 hours and includes 3 face-to-face modules of 2 weeks each and work in a remote format. ZNPP employees will work in seven areas, including nuclear power and heat engineering, ecology and nature management.

Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) is a nuclear power plant in Ukraine, in the steppe zone near the former shore of the Kakhovka Reservoir in Zaporizhzhia region, near the city of Enerhodar. It is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe and the third largest in the world by total capacity. It consists of six nuclear power units of 1 GW each. On March 4, 2022, during a full-scale Russian invasion, the power plant was seized by Russian troops.

According to Kirill Matuzaev, head of the Nuclear Power Plants Department at SevDU, the main task of the students is to fully comply with the standards of the occupying state in terms of organization and regulations. The last exam for them will take place in May 2025; based on its results, they will be issued "diplomas of professional retraining with the appropriate qualifications." The occupiers expect all ZNPP employees to undergo similar "retraining" within three years. At the same time, it was stated that in the summer of 2025, about a hundred studentsof SevDU would be sent for an internship at ZNPP.
