Famous Kherson collaborator Tomilina faces a new sentence

A special pre-trial investigation has been opened against a well-known Kherson collaborator, Tatiana Tomilina, who works as a rector under the occupiers,

This is stated on the website of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.

Criminal proceedings under Part 5 of Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine were initiated on November 21, 2024. According to the article, it is about voluntarily holding positions in illegal authorities established in the temporarily occupied territory, organizing or participating in illegal elections and referendums or calling for their holding.

If Tomilina's guilt is proven, she faces five to ten years in prison, a ban on holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities for a period of 10 to 15 years, and confiscation of property.

Tatyana Tomilina, known for her anti-Ukrainian views, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for collaboration with the occupiers and aiding the aggressor state, the Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office reported. The verdict will come into force only after her detention by Ukrainian law enforcement, as she is currently in the occupied territory of Kherson region or in Russia.

As previously reported by the Anti-Corruption Dimension, during the occupation of Kherson in 2022, Tomilina was appointed "rector" of the seized Kherson State University. In this pseudo-position, she actively promoted Russian propaganda: she organized the educational process according to Russian standards, introducing Russian as the main language. She was also responsible for the selection of teachers, applicants and the dissemination of narratives favorable to the occupiers.

However, Tomilina's scandalous activities began even earlier. In 2015, she became famous for spreading fakes about "secret Pentagon laboratories" in Kherson. During her election campaign for mayor, Tomilina publicly stated that such laboratories existed in the center of Kherson, which was refuted by experts.

In 2022, during the occupation, Tomilina was assassinated. An explosion occurred in the yard of her house. The collaborator was slightly injured, but more serious consequences were avoided. Instead, a man was killed, who was initially called her bodyguard, but later it turned out that he had nothing to do with Tomilina.

Recently, law enforcement officers served a notice of suspicion on a former lyceum director from Kakhovka district, Kherson region, who was engaged in propaganda and helped to implement Russian standards in education.

An educator from Kherson region, who headed a department in the occupation "ministry of education," was also in the dock.
