Intent joins demands to draw the world's attention to the restoration of the Ukrainian media sector

International organizations and media outlets have expressed concern and disappointment that the organizers of the fourth Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC2025), which will take place in Rome on July 10-11, have once again failed to include a single session on the restoration of the Ukrainian media sector in the main program.
The corresponding open letter, to which Intent joined the signatories, was published on the website of the international organization Reporters Without Borders (RSF), Detector Media reported.
In total, the letter was signed by 45 media organizations and publications in Ukraine. The authors of the appeal noted that protecting press freedom, supporting the long-term sustainability of the media, and restoring media infrastructure should be key components of any serious recovery strategy.
According to IMI, since February 24, 2022, at least 332 Ukrainian media outlets have suspended operations, mostly for financial reasons. The situation worsened in 2025 after the announcement that USAID would stop supporting the media, putting the sector in even greater danger.
Nevertheless, in May 2025, the editorial office of Intent completed the training of the first intake of students at its media school. In May 2025, certificates were awarded to graduates who completed the full course of study. The Intent Media School is an educational project designed to train new media professionals focused on working in local and regional media. It combines theoretical classes with practical training in the newsroom itself, which allows participants to feel part of the journalistic profession. During the course, students learned the skills of writing news, preparing interviews, creating reports, and also studied the basics of video production and social media. The teachers included journalists and experts from the Intent team, as well as university professors and independent media analysts.
