A photo from Kherson region is among the best photos of the year

The world press has recognized the work of Ukrainian photographer Mark Ivkov. His photo from the Kherson region was included in CNN's selection of the best photos of the year.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers.

World media, including CNN, Reuters, and TIME, have selected the 50 best photos of the year, and among them was a photo by Ukrainian photographer Mark Ivkov. The photo, which depicts Ukrainian soldiers preparing an artillery cannon to fire at the occupation forces, was taken in the Kherson region, which became one of the most affected areas of Ukraine during Russia's full-scale invasion.

This work by Mark Ivkov was included in a selection of the best photos on CNN. The photo, taken on October 27, shows the moment when Ukrainian defenders are actively preparing for battle, demonstrating resilience and courage in the face of a difficult war. The photographs of Ukrainian documentary filmmakers who captured the horrific realities of the war have attracted global attention and have become important for understanding the tragedy and heroism of the Ukrainian people.

These images have helped to reveal human stories, celebrating the courage and resilience of those who continue to fight for their country, even in the most difficult circumstances. Meanwhile, a photo of the Kherson Yacht Club won first place in the Kherson region in the 2023 Wiki Loves Monuments photo contest of cultural heritage sites.

And a photo from the Askania Nova Biosphere Reserve, located in the temporarily occupied territory of Kherson region, was included in the top ten best photos of Ukraine according to the results of the Ukrainian part of the international photo contest "Wiki Loves Earth" in 2024.
