The Executive Committee of the Mykolaiv City Council has approved a new Comprehensive Plan for the Placement of Outdoor Advertising on Tsentralnyi Avenue. The document calls for a 35% reduction in the total number of advertising structures.
This was reported by the Mykolaiv City Council.
According to the city’s chief architect, Yevhen Polyakov, the total number of advertising structures on the avenue will decrease from 182 to 117, and their total area will be cut in half.
City officials noted that the main focus is on minimizing large-format billboards. The number of such billboards will decrease nearly sevenfold—from 89 to 12—accounting for only 10% of all structures. Instead, priority will be given to small and medium-sized formats. The plan calls for the installation of 75 citylights and 30 medium-sized structures.
According to Yevhen Polyakov, this regulatory act underwent public consultations and discussions.
The decision was made to reduce visual clutter, streamline advertising media, and improve the aesthetic appearance of the city’s main thoroughfare.
City officials noted that, following a mutual agreement with the business community, the dismantling and replacement of the structures will begin in the near future. Similar efforts to streamline advertising will later be carried out on Heroes of Ukraine Avenue, Peace Avenue, and Bogoyavlensky Avenue.
