Residents of the Kurisivska rural territorial community are raising concerns about the quality of the local high school’s shelter. Despite the presence of mold, the lack of doors in the restrooms, and the unsanitary flooring, representatives of the Berezivka District Military Administration consider the shelter suitable for use.

This was reported by Olena Galamat-Soomer,a resident of the Kurisivska rural territorial community

The visit by Vitaliy Labush, head of the Berezivka District Military Administration, wasfollowing a petition from the parents of students at the Educational Complex (EC) in the village of Kairi, Kurisivska Village Council, Berezivka District, Odesa Region, addressed to Oleg Kipper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration. The appeal concerns the closure of the EEC and the transfer of children to Kurisovo for schooling, where conditions are allegedly good. However, the parents refute claims of adequate shelter and point to a number of problems.

In a video shared byOlena Galamat-Soomer, representativesof the Regional Military Administration express the view that toilets without doors are not a problem, since children can use them one at a time, and adults on duty can supervise this. They also note that the air in the shelter is fresh, there is no smell of mold, and the floor, covered with outdoor tiles, is cleaned.

Previously, the Kurisovsk Village Council spent over 3.2 million hryvnias in budget funds to build a shelter for the school in the village of Kairi. Modules for a rapidly deployable civil defense shelter were purchased. However, the shelter has not yet been put into operation because it has not received approval from the State Emergency Service. The police have opened a criminal investigation into the possible embezzlement of budget funds by community officials in collusion with the contractor.

Previously, law enforcement officials uncovered a possible overpricing of work during the construction of a shelter at one of Odesa’s kindergartens. According to the investigation, the documents contained information that did not correspond to the actual scope and specifications of the equipment.
