Odesa is preparing to launch the restoration of educational institutions of historical value to combine heritage preservation with the modernization of the learning environment. The final launch of the projects depends on the decision of the city council members, who are expected to consider the initiative in the near future.

The decision was made during a meeting of the executive committee of the Odesa City Council.

The decision covered three projects related to the restoration of educational institutions with a protected status. These are lyceums located in buildings that are monuments of architecture and urban planning.

According to the prepared documents, it is planned to grant permission for restoration work to several educational institutions. In particular, Odesa Lyceum No. 50 at 46 Kinna Street intends to renovate some of the interior.

Lyceum No. 43 at 17 Gogol Street is to restore the power grid, which is in a state of emergency and requires immediate intervention.

In addition, part of the premises of the historic building at Lyceum No. 10 named after G.T. Dobrovolsky and G.S. Shonin, located at 22 Desyatoho Aprila Street, will be restored.

It is expected that the implementation of these projects will help preserve the city's architectural heritage and create safe conditions for the educational process. The final decision on the start of the work will be made by the deputies during the plenary session of the city council.

At one of its meetings in April, the executive committee of Odesa City Council, following a resonant discussion of the destruction of architectural monuments on Frantsuzsky Boulevard, made urgent decisions to preserve them. In particular, it envisages urgent documentation, registration of the objects in the state register, and increased control over the owner.

Recently, an electronic petition was registered in Odesa demanding to protect the architectural monument at 10 Frantsuzsky Boulevard and make decisions in the field of cultural heritage more transparent. The initiator of the petition claims that the historic building is at risk of destruction and calls on the city authorities to intervene immediately.
