In Odesa’s Chornomorska neighborhood, they have been unable to install a new traffic light for three years now, even though the corresponding traffic management plan has been approved and requests have been submitted to city authorities on multiple occasions.

This issue was discussed at a meeting of the Odessa City Council’s Standing Committee on Transportation and Road Infrastructure.

City Council member Andriy Sharashidze raised the issue of installing the traffic light and stated that it has been under consideration for three years now, but work has not yet begun.

“We’ve been talking about a traffic light in Chornomorsk for three years now. Everything has been submitted, the plan is being developed for the third time, and nothing is being done,” said Sharashidze.

A representative of the Department of Transportation replied that this was the first time he had heard about this issue. Committee Chair Petro Obukhov clarified that a request regarding the installation of a traffic light had indeed been received.

The meeting also addressed other sections:

Italiiska and Panteleimonivska. Here, they want to create a barrier-free route that will serve as an alternative to the underground passage: install a traffic light, build ramps, and remove the fence. The traffic light will not be put into operation until the fence is removed and road signs are installed.

Genoese Street and Kurortny Lane. The traffic management plan was approved, and the Department of Transportation is to be involved in overseeing its implementation. The issue of parking needs to be addressed separately.

European Square. The creation of a small pedestrian zone and a ramp was discussed; plans for both have already been developed.
