In Odesa, City Council members disrupted a meeting of the City Council's Land Commission

On September 18, a meeting of the Standing Committee on Spatial Development, Land Management, and Land Rights Regulation did not take place at the Odesa City Council. The reason was the lack of a quorum.

This became known from the live broadcast of the meeting.

Serhiy Strashny, chairman of the land commission, informed those present that there were not enough council members to begin the meeting.

“Only two of the six Odesa City Council members are present at the committee meeting—this is not enough to begin the meeting, as there is no quorum. Dear colleagues, what are your suggestions?” he asked.

The deputies decided to wait the required 15 minutes, but after that, they did not begin the meeting and dispersed.

As Intent previously reported, on September 9, the Odesa City Council session was ended early without considering a single draft resolution. City Council Secretary and Acting MayorIhor Kovalaccused the “Trust the Deeds” faction of blocking the council’s work.

Meanwhile, in Odesa, it is believed that the disruption of the regular session indicates a deepening politicalcrisisand could have serious consequences for the city—up to and including the dissolution of the council by the Verkhovna Rada.

On September 16, for the first time ever, a session of the Krasnosilsk Village Council in the Odesa region did not take place. This was also due to the lack of the required number of council members to pass resolutions.

Due to the lack of a quorum, the council members were unable to consider a number of issues important to the community. These included financial assistanceforthe families of fallen soldiers, additional funding for the “Mercy in Action” program, an educational subsidy, and funding for teachers’ salaries.
