A petition has been launched in Mykolaiv over a broken promise regarding the Walk of Fame

An online petition has been filed in Mykolaiv calling for the launch of the "Walk of Fame" project in the Velyka Korenyha neighborhood. Residents claim that the planned start dates for the work have already passed.
This is reported on the e-DEM online petition platform.
The author of the petition is Olga Badrak, a resident of the neighborhood. According to her, the idea of creating the Walk of Fame was supported by the residents of Velyka Korenikha.
A design has already been developed and the necessary documentation prepared to implement the initiative. Work was tentatively scheduled to begin in the first or second quarter, but the deadline has passed, and construction of the alley has not yet begun.
The petitionasks the city council to:
- explain why work did not begin on time;
- provide an update on the current status of the project;
- clarify whether funding has been allocated and for what period;
- to specify a concrete date for the start of construction.
The author of the petition emphasizes that residents of Velyka Korenyha have already supported the initiative and participated in the project’s preparation.
“We ask that you not ignore an issue that has already passed the public support stage and must be implemented. ‘Alley of Glory’ is an important site of remembrance and respect for our community,” the petition states.
How many signatures have been collected so far
The signature drive began on July 1, 2026. As of July 2, 92 people out of the required 1,000 have supported the petition.
There are 88 days left until the end of the signature collection period. If the petition gathers the required number of signatures, the Mykolaiv City Council must consider it.
There is already an Alley of Glory in the center of Mykolaiv, which was established at their own expense by the families of fallen soldiers. The memorial is located next to the destroyed building of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration.
Banners featuring photographs and the names of hundreds of Ukraine’s defenders who died in the war have been installed along the alley. The space was created at the initiative of the relatives of the fallen soldiers through the civic organization “United Homeland of Mykolaiv Region.”
Currently, the Walk of Fame has the status of a temporary memorial. It will remain in this location until a permanent memorial complex is built in Mykolaiv to honor Ukraine’s fallen defenders.
