Almost UAH 3 billion has been allocated for the Safe City of Odesa program to improve public safety and effective interaction between the authorities and law enforcement. The changes include the introduction of the latest technologies, round-the-clock monitoring of the situation and improved emergency response.

The decision was made at a meeting of the Executive Committee of Odesa City Council.

The Executive Committee of the Odesa City Council has submitted a proposal to the Odesa MVA to amend the City Target Program "Safe City of Odesa", which has been in effect since 2020 and is scheduled to run until 2028.

The total amount of funds for the implementation of the program is UAH 2.9 billion, which will be allocated from the budget of the Odesa city territorial community. The program is aimed at increasing the level of public safety for residents and visitors of the city, as well as improving cooperation between local governments and law enforcement agencies.

The program includes several key areas:

  • introduction of the latest technologies and approaches in the field of law enforcement, law and order, protection of citizens' rights and freedoms
  • modernization of emergency response systems, including round-the-clock monitoring of the situation in the city
  • collecting, analyzing and summarizing information about events in the city and promptly reporting it to the management;
  • coordination of actions of all management entities in the field of public security;
  • measures to improve the level of civil protection of the population and the efficiency of emergency response.

According to the members of the executive committee, the amendments to the program should ensure the most effective protection of Odesa residents and visitors, especially under martial law. In addition, it is planned to update approaches to organizing the work of law enforcement agencies in the city and improve the system of information exchange between structural units.

The proposals will be considered by the Odesa City Military Administration of Odesa District for further approval and implementation.

Earlier, as part of the program update, the executive committee asked the Odesa City Military Administration to approve the allocation of more than UAH 59 million for logistical support of the Armed Forces, rescue and law enforcement units.
